Elk in Lakewood??

Was slowly packing for the trip to Montana, when husband came in excitedly telling son and I to get our shoes on and come see the 2 elk being herded by the police down Garrison. We drove to Garrison and Iowa, parked and low and behold their they were!

They slowly headed north toward the pond/reserve on the west side of the street...

Greg thinks they came down the drainage ditch from the mountains. Wherever they came from it sure was a cool sight to see this evening.

Montana!

My niece is getting married next week and the wedding is in Big Sky, Montana! Wow am I ready for some hiking, exploring, and time with family. I was up until 1am last night researching geocache sites that are kid friendly as well as a few challenging ones to do with the adults. I've always heard Montana is a beautiful state so I'm really looking forward to this trip. We also intend to visit Yellowstone as well. I have my National Parks passport all ready to go. Just need to print out the list of stamp areas so we have them all covered. Fun way to get the family into visiting National Parks.

Survived!

Well we survived the birthday party. It was hot, but at least it was slightly windy and didn't rain! The 2 extra kids another parent invited never showed so it all worked out. We ended up with 9 kids including the birthday boy and I believe they all had a great time. South Suburban's Colorado Journey is a great place for a birthday party and the prices are very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend it.

Before the party, Molly and I got some last minute geocaching in. Of the 3 I looked for, found two. It is amazing the creativity of the cache creators when hiding a cache. One was in plain site but it took me a while to find due to the camoflage applied. Plus it was a micro container. Micro containers can be anywhere from a small capsule the size of a chapstick to a vitamin bottle wrapped in camoflage. Molly (yellow lab) enjoyed taking forbidden dips in the lake while I searched. It really is a fun game. Plus great exercise and takes you to off the beaten path areas passed daily without realizing it.

6th Birthday

Well, my son is turning six in 4 days and to celebrate we are having a birthday party with 10 of his friends at Colorado Journey Miniature Golf. We initially invited 6 kids but as of this evening we have 12. 2 were totally unexpected. They aren't siblings either. A mom called asking my husband if her son could bring 2 friends to the party. He didn't know what to say so he said he could. We don't even know the kids. Our son doesn't either! Who does that?? All I can say is I hope we survive!
